Galashiels Academy supports new #yourpart campaign
Here at Galashiels Academy, we are supporting the new #yourpart campaign which has been launched by Scottish Borders Council.
This campaign aims to encourage everyone to play their part to help the Borders thrive into the future despite being faced with various
As you know, every single person in the Borders uses Council services, whether it is roads, waste, parks, schools or social care and health.
With that in mind, it is everyone’s responsibility to play their part to keep the Borders thriving during a time when public funding is
reducing whilst demand for services are increasing.
What can you do to play #yourpart?
In addition to doing what you should already, like picking up after your dog, recycling properly and making sure your child attends school
ready to learn, you are also being asked to do simple things like using online services wherever possible, checking on elderly neighbours,
joining your local Resilient Communities group or going along to your local area partnership meeting.
You can also play your part by keeping as healthy as possible, making the most of the free advice and support that’s on offer, opportunities
for physical activity such as exercise classes, facilities operated by our partners such as Live Borders and the great path networks in and
around our towns.
Here at Galashiels Academy, we are encouraging everyone to play #your part specifically by helping us to support our fantastic young people
• supporting them to attend school every day
• equipping them with the uniform and equipment for school
• encouraging our young people to make the most of all the extra opportunities in school and in the community
• contacting the school if you have something to offer to enhance our curriculum communicating with us whenever you have any concerns
or you need our help or support
• get involved with the Parent Council to help keep improving the school
Anything that our school community can do will all contribute to making the Borders a better place to live, work and visit and will help to
ensure that the Council can continue to deliver vital high quality services into the future.
People are being encouraged to use #yourpart on social media to show your support and raise awareness of the campaign. Visit
